Description
Throughout the tour, you’ll visit legendary spots such as the Matterhorn, Berner Oberland, and the serene alpine valleys. Each location offers unique opportunities to shoot dramatic mountain panoramas, pristine lakes reflecting majestic peaks, glaciers, and charming Swiss villages nestled amid stunning landscapes.
We will lead you to prime vantage points for landscape photography, teaching composition techniques, camera settings, and lighting tips to make the most of the ever-changing alpine environment. You’ll capture golden hour light cascading over towering summits and vibrant sunsets painting the sky in warm hues.
As night falls, the tour transforms into an astrophotography adventure. Away from city lights, the Swiss Alps provide some of Europe’s darkest skies, ideal for photographing the Milky Way, star trails, and timelapses. Learn specialized techniques for night photography, including long exposures, tracking and stacking, and post-processing.
Comfortable accommodations are carefully selected to maximize rest and convenience, with some nights spent near lakes or mountain lodges offering unobstructed views of the stars. This tour combines adventure, education, and unparalleled scenery to create a once-in-a-lifetime photographic experience in the heart of Switzerland.
Please note that this photo tour is not planned for big hikes but you must expect some easy to medium walking itineraries. (If you would like to reach more remote locations where heavy hiking is needed, please reach out to Swede Photography and we can plan a separate 2D/1N experience)
Join us to unlock your creative potential and take home unforgettable images of Switzerland’s spectacular landscapes and starry skies.
Tour Itinerary

Day 1 – Seealpsee
The tour will start on that day around 10am. You should all be in Zurich by then and we will pick you up either in the airport or in your respective hotel.
We will drive around 2 hours to reach our first stop in the Alpstein area. From the parking spot, we will have a 1 hour hike (easy level) to reach our accommodation (hut) for the night next to Seealpsee, a wonderful mountain lake with full photographic potential.
We will have plenty of time to share about the photo tour organization and logistics.
Day 2 – Churfirsten
After shooting sunrise and breakfast, we will walk down back to the van and drive towards our next stop in the Toggenburg area. The idea will be to take pictures of the well-known Churfirsten, a striking group of seven limestone peaks in Eastern Switzerland.
Depending on time and weather conditions, we will try to get two different locations nearby between sunset and next morning sunrise while staying overnight in a hotel.
Day 3 – Bachalpsee
We will start our journey (3 hours) this morning after breakfast and start heading towards Berner Oberland in the direction of our final camping destination of Bachalpsee. This lake lays above 2200m and is a traditional stop for landscape photography with the mountain range reflection. We will take a gondola from Grindelwald and hike about 1 hour (easy level).
If the weather forecast does not allow us to camp there, we will book a replacement accommodation nearby (extra cost).
Day 4 – Eiger, Monch, Jungfrau
We will shoot sunrise in Bachalpsee, enjoy breakfast in a nearby place and move on towards a surprise location where the famous Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau will face us with all their splendor. To reach the place, we must take a gondola followed by an approximate 1.5 hour hiking time (easy to medium level). We will spend our night in a hut (no shower available).
On the way, we will stop in Lauterbrunnen where you might want to shoot the waterfall or take a dip at the local swimming pool.
Day 5 – Ferpecle
After a sunrise shooting session and breakfast, we will pack, hike down and start a long drive (3.5 hours). Our next destination is Ferpecle Glacier in Canton Valais. We will spend the night in a hotel and will have to hike 30 minutes (easy level) to reach the shooting spots near the river facing Mont Mine.
Day 6 – Zermatt
After breakfast, we start heading in the direction of Zermatt and its Matterhorn. We will take a train from Tasch, a gondola and lift before hiking 45 minutes (easy level) to reach the Fluhalp hut sitting at 2600m. This is a must-do place with many opportunities to shoot on two different lakes, Stellisee and Grindjisee.
We will stay overnight in this magical place there. For the ones who would like, you can get a hot shower at a small cost (bring Swiss coins). In order to reach both lakes for our photography sessions, we will need to hike a bit.
Day 7 – Susten Pass
After sunrise and breakfast, we will make our way down to Zermatt and hit the road for a long ride (3 hours) towards our final stop of the tour. Susten Pass area awaits us and offers great composition opportunities playing with rivers, Steinsee and Stein Glacier in the background . The journey will go through the central part of the Swiss Alps via the Furka Pass and the Grimsel Pass. We will also make a stop at the Rhone Glacier to catch some nice pictures.
